Since September of 2006, SOE has been creating silly tongue in cheek content for the Official SOE Podcast. We’ve written top 10 lists, interviews with NPCs, product parodies, our “Famous Podramedies,” and much more.* Examples of these range from the “That’s What a Fae Can Be” skit/song in Podcast #4 to the “Fan Faire” product parody in Podcast #107.
You may also remember some of our product parodies. Check out this example in Podcast #81 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3_maNWpF71ohttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3_maNWpF71o). It starts at the 50 second mark.* Then there are also the dramatic rants we’ve read aloud.* A great one is from Podcast #39, a fantastic rant about a change on the forums. It starts at 36:46.
We have all of these ideas in our heads that we want to write, like Norrathian Hoarders, a Sports report including Football in Free Realms, the Aether Races in EverQuest II, perhaps a funny spoof about the weather in games, and all sorts of other things.* We would love to take our server hamsters places too, but there aren’t enough hours in the day to write all of those ideas.
That’s where you all come in!* We know we have talented listeners and others in the community that are just as creative as we are, so we’ve come up with the SOE Fanspot Challenge.
Here’s how to enter:
Have you ever wanted to be a part of the SOE Podcast?* Do you aspire to be a writer?* Perhaps you’ve always wanted to bring an SOE Hamster to life?* Here is your chance!
The Official SOE Podcast is creating a Fanspot segment!* This is your chance to come up with your own commercials, top ten lists, NPC interviews, and so on. You get to decide because you are the creator!
Here is what we are looking for:
Product Parodies – Advertise something in your favorite game, be it a beverage, the local pub, that new feature you love, or something else.* Make it silly, make it fun, or make it serious. This must be 1-3 minutes in length.
Skits – Write a comedy, drama, or action skit!* This must be 1-3 minutes in length.
Podramedies – Is it a comedy or a drama?* It’s a perfect combo of both. Write your own miniseries, pick the characters, and have some fun. Usually a hamster is involved in an SOE Podramedy, but this is not required.* Each part must be 1-3 minutes in length, with no more than 3 parts please.
Top 10 lists – Create your own funny top 10 list.
Interviews with NPCs – Pick an NPC in an SOE game and write interview questions for them.* If you are feeling especially creative you can even answer the questions in the voice of the NPC.
Dramatic Rants – A Dramatic Rant is a tongue in cheek rant.* This must be 500 words or less
Short stories – These stories must be 500 words or less.
Jokes – Jokes should be able to be told with in 1-3 minutes, and appropriate for the Official SOE Podcast!
Song parodies – Submit your own lyrics and we’ll sing them! Please include the song you are making a parody of, just in case we’re not familiar.* Songs should be 1-3 minutes in length.
All content that is submitted must be SOE game related. We will add sounds to your content, however, we do appreciate suggestions.
